The Arms Imports (SIPRI Trend Indicator Values) is an indicator developed by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) to measure the volume of international arms imports. It includes purchases, aid, and transfers through manufacturing licenses for major conventional weapons such as aircraft, armored vehicles, artillery, radar systems, missiles, and military-use ships. This indicator excludes small arms, light weapons, trucks, small artillery, ammunition, support equipment, technology transfers, and services. Values are expressed in SIPRI Trend Indicator Values (TIVs) in US dollars (US$ million), with a '0' indicating that the value of imports is less than US$0.5 million. The chart displays the values of arms imports for the United States in US dollars (US$ million) over a 23-year period, from 2000 to 2022.
