HTS - Public Security Agency

The Public Security Service is a centralized intelligence agency affiliated with Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), established on June 10, 2020. Its stated mission is to combat crime and maintain security and stability in Idlib, a region with a population of over three million people. Diaa al-Din Omar serves as the agency's official spokesperson. According to its leadership, the agency functions as an organized security institution tasked with pursuing criminals and suspected agents, with a focus on safeguarding individuals, institutions, and factions under its jurisdiction. It operates under a framework of sharia-based judicial oversight that governs its procedures and rulings. While Diaa al-Din Omar asserts that the agency is independent and not affiliated with any military faction, it is widely perceived as an extension of HTS's security apparatus.
