The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) is a multi-ethnic and multi-religious alliance of militias, primarily Kurdish, along with Arab, Assyrian/Syriac, Turkmen, Armenian, Circassian, and Chechen groups involved in the Syrian Civil War. The SDF was officially established on October 11, 2015, during a press conference in Hasakah, built upon long-standing cooperation among its founding factions.
