The Kurdish National Council: Structure and Political Alliances

The Kurdish National Council (KNC) was established on October 26, 2011, and consists of several Syrian Kurdish parties, most of which were active before the Syrian revolution. The council has representatives in the Syrian National Coalition, the Syrian Negotiation Commission, and the Constitutional Committee. It is part of a political alliance with Tomorrow’s Current and the Assyrian Democratic Organization under the "Freedom and Peace Front." Over time, some member parties have undergone name changes, and the council has experienced internal splits.
