The Syrian National Army is a military formation comprising several factions opposed to the Assad regime. It was established in 2017 with Turkish support and aimed to unify all Syrian opposition factions under a single command.

The Corps Comprising the Army

The army is composed of three corps:

  • The First Corps: The Syrian National Army, which includes factions trained by the Turkish Special Forces.
  • The Second Corps: It includes the Sultan Murad Brigade, the Sultan Suleiman Shah Brigade, the Al-Hamza Brigade, and others.
  • The Third Corps: It includes the Sham Front Brigade and others.

The most prominent military operations of the Syrian National Army:

The Syrian National Army launched several military operations in cooperation with the Turkish army, starting with Operation Olive Branch on January 20, 2018, against the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) in Afrin, followed by Operation Peace Spring on October 9, 2019, and most recently, Operation Dawn of Freedom on November 30, 2024.
